Spot AI Slop Before You Share It

Once you can taste the average, you stop swallowing it - and you stop making it.

    The machine spits the median

AI predicts the most likely next word. The most likely anything is the average of everything ever written. Its default voice is the beige middle of the internet - smooth, safe, and saying almost nothing.

Learn that texture once. You will start seeing it everywhere.
  2. 02

    Confident is not correct

AI states a lie in the exact tone it states a fact. No sweat, no stammer, no tell. That certainty is a style setting, not a signal of truth - and it is the trap most people walk straight into.

  3. 03

    Slop has a house voice

Every sentence the same tidy length. Every point balanced into a neat little bow. 'In today's fast-paced world.' 'It is important to note.' That frictionless hum is the sound of no one actually thinking.

Read it out loud. Slop has no pulse.
  4. 04

    Watch for the not-just-X-but-Y tic

The machine loves a clean antithesis and a rule of three. It is not just a tool, it is a revolution. Real people write lopsided, obsessive, uneven. Perfect symmetry is a fingerprint, not a flourish.

  5. 05

Details dissolve when you look twice

Count the fingers. Read the text in the background - it is gibberish. Follow the railing, the teeth, the earring, the shadow that points the wrong way. Slop looks right at a glance and falls apart the moment you actually stare.

    Zoom in. Always zoom in.
  6. 06

A source you cannot check is not a source

'Studies show.' 'Experts say.' A quote with no name, a stat with no link, a paper that does not exist. If you cannot click through to it, it is not evidence - it is a costume wearing the shape of evidence.

  7. 07

It invents sources and cites them cold

Ask for a reference and the machine will manufacture one: plausible author, plausible journal, total fiction. It is not lying to you. It genuinely cannot tell the difference - which is worse.

Every fact it hands you, you own. Verify before you repeat.
  8. 08

    Virality is not veracity

The thing that spreads fastest is built to feel true, not to be true. Outrage travels. Nuance dies in the drafts. How far something flew tells you about the bait, never about the fact.

  9. 09

If it flatters you, check harder

The slop that slips past you is the slop you already wanted to be real. Confirmation feels like recognition. When a claim lands too perfectly on your side, that is the cue to slow down, not to hit share.

Wanting it to be true is itself a reason to doubt it.
  10. 10

The median is safe, so it is everywhere

Nobody gets fired for average. That is exactly why the machine defaults to it and why the feed is drowning in it. The average is engineered to be forgettable - which is how it slides past you unexamined.

  11. 11

    You are the last filter

Every forward is a vote. When you pass slop along, your name launders it - a stranger trusts it because you did. The whole chain of belief runs straight through you.

Do not share what you have not checked. You are the editor now.
  12. 12

Seeing it is making it in reverse

The eye that catches slop and the hand that refuses to write it are the same muscle. Once you can name the beige out loud, you cannot unsee it in your own drafts either.

  13. 13

Now turn the eye on yourself

That polished paragraph you were proud of - is it yours, or is it the median wearing your name? Taste is knowing the difference and killing the average on sight.

Make the thing only you could make. Cut everything a machine could.
